I'd have to say if a pastor was arrested for such it would simply be because he got in someones face and was seen as commiting harassment. I've seen people quote bible, etc when debating numerous issues that they've caught on news. Not once have I seen one arrested. There actually is at least one religiously motivated political party in my province. They crack open the bible all the time. I don't see them getting hauled off to jail. I also know an Anglican Minister who is a ham radio aquaintance. Despite his churches stance he is anti gay and he makes no secret of his views and he's never been arrested for it.(on contrary he's done missionairy work all over the world) So your father I would say is grossly misinformed. Oh and I might add one of our provincial politicians was devout catholic. He stepped down when his religious views clashed with politics if I remember right. I think it might of been at the time over the abortion issue.
