We use to do that all the time, we even had a few times where we shot up to 4 guns per battery (12 guns total, big boom).

I have a photo somewhere from about 50 feet behind a 155 as it shot, you can see the round leaving the barrel in the photo, pretty cool.

On an exercise in Wyoming we got to shoot smoke for a squadron of F-15's and even got to radio them the coordinates for the target, as soon as the FFE went out we ran out of the track and climbed on top to watch the show. That was AWESOME watching those jets seemingly fly in from no where, drop their payload and scream off into the horizon.

Another time we had A Battery shoot Illumination in the shape of an A (well they tried to anyway) and B and C shot HE underneath. I only saw the Illum as we were a ways away.

Those are the fond memories; I can remember lots of other things that weren't so grand :)
