... IIRC, that's not how it actually went.

She in effect said, "If you're not gonna give me full-time work, I should be able to work part-time elsewhere too. Which are you offering me?"

And they in effect said, "None of your business -- you're just an actress".

And she said "Of course it's my business. I'm willing to do it either way, but I've got to make a living too. If it's only part-time, I want to see what I can do about other work to supplement this job (My immediate boss, is OK with it; and of course this pre-existing commitment will come first). So do you want me full-time or part-time? "

And they said " If you're going to be like that, and not gratefully submit to our arbitrary, pointless, irrational power-games, we'll just trash your job, just to prove we can, and too bad if it screws up the project -- we don't like it much anyways. Bye-Bye."
