So there are some DNS troubles in my area. by shorty822006-11-19 12:55:59
where are you? I've been having problems too. by nedludd2004-12-12 20:40:36
I've been having problems with SBC for weeks. by niwikki2004-12-12 20:46:01
      For Windows XP: by shorty82 2004-12-12 20:57:56
Go to "C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc" and open up "HOSTS" (no extension).

You'll see "127.0.0.1 localhost" as the first and only entry (unless it's been fiddled with in the past). On a new line add the IP and URL of the site you want. Save and exit. You'll have to either log in as an administrator or run Notepad as one to modify the file.

For example, my HOSTS looks like this:
127.0.0.1 localhost
69.57.143.182 ars.userfriendly.org
69.57.143.184 members.userfriendly.org
I got the members IP by using the "ping" command in the command prompt (ping <URL>). I had to ask Krikkert over AIM the other day to get ars's IP as it wouldn't ever resolve for me.

Don't know a thing about Macs (except that they are good for graphics work :-), sorry.
