Or what about the new by celticess 2004-12-12 18:38:10
Quacks? My roommates little sister(ok one of them as all 3 are younger) has this machine which is supposed to cure you with some field. She claimed it actually helps her anxiety disorder. Personally I think it was psychosematic that it had any effect. Sort of a placebo effect. The machine which is branded quackery in a few countries and even illegal in a few works like this:

Tubing containing some purple looking crystals is put around the area that needs work.(usually chakkra points if I remember right) The machine then passes some harmonics through the crystal tube and that if used for x amount of time should do some good.

She insisted we try this on my daughter. I felt bored and a little weird when it was on me but I don't think it did much. My daughter felt something while on it then proceeded to get sicker. The roommates sisters view was my daughter wasn't caught soon enough but if she had been and had treatments it might of "cured" her cancer...

You can guess what my opinions of that were. But to keep the peice and because I think the woman is otherwise nice(she's a ditz but she's a sweetheart otherwise) I held my tongue. But I told my roommate I thought it was quackery... He buys into alot of quackery.(you should see the kitchen cupboard where glasses are... he stores all his "suppliments" there and trust me there are quite a few and the dosages he takes as being only "suggested" so sometimes takes 2 or so x the level suggested) I've learned though people that heavily buy into such things wont listen to reason and wont look at medical study data from a variety of sources. Instead they'll just cite some conspiracy theory. I think though for some of those it is a psychological need and they need whatever placebo effect it gives them.

Too each their own as long as they respect I have the right to my view too and quit pressuring me to try their "whatever" du jour.
