Keep B5 Alive website by voxwoman2006-11-19 12:55:59
Not again! They thoroughly screwed the story arc.. by swisscheese2004-12-12 17:39:35
it wasn't the suits that got rid of Ivanova by voxwoman2004-12-12 18:02:36
the way I heard it... by swisscheese 2004-12-12 18:32:20

the actress (Claudia Christiansen?) who played Ivanova said

"I want either a commitment for a full slate of work, or the freedom to take some work elsewhere while doing B5, depending on compatability with my B5 responsibilities".

And JMS didn't have an objection, but the suits said, in effect:

"Who do you think you are, to expect a reasonable arrangement from us. We're in charge here. and we say that you can't work on anything else -- whether or not we actually need you for the full season. So not only will we not give you an answer either way, we'll make an example of you just for having the temerity to ask. You're fired."

(and yeah, I know that the last 2 seasons got mangled by exec idiocy, but wasn't a lot of that financial indecisiveness?)
