trends in programming languages by dennismv 2004-12-06 22:57:22
Java seemed to do away with pointers. Is this a good thing ?
C++/C#/Java use iterators for things like string functions and other things. Is this a good thing ?

Java has references, but you can't have pointer arithmetic.
Things are getting slower.
I'm under impression that Java/C# is slower than C++, C++ is slower than C, and C is slower than ASM.

First, they took away goto, now pointers ...
Aii panic panic !
