How to connect a win2k machine to wireless? by celticess 2004-12-06 22:26:32
My roommate still hasn't got his laptop going. I'm going to try to take a stab at it. He's using 2k on it. Right now he's bugged that it's saying lan. I think it's supposed to but it shows it out of commission. On the adapter details page only thing I can figure that might be wrong is it has bluetooth turned off... Isn't bluetooth the same as 8011b or whatever it's called? He knows it's the numbered protocol but I thought bluetooth is the same thing. Only other thing I can think of is in network settings. Though the device is set to dhcp auto I'm wondering if the hub needs entered into the gateway. My desktop I'm on right now is 2k however didn't need that done but then again I'm not using wireless...

The laptop is an hp pavillion. He did call hp and they said "sorry but we don't support 2k" It came with XP but it was 1/2 the speed under xp that it is with 2k.
