Courier may go through the US then to canada hence customs otherwise that is a privacy and customs violation. I've had things through sweden and aus long ago and they were open and examined but it was canada customs that did it. They were also sent to me via regular postal system so canada post handled it. But had it been courier and through an american company that might be different.(ie fedex, ups or one of the other american based subcontracted services)
