Sirs:
A few months ago, you received a letter from ****** ****** regarding making a donation to AFI in memory of a lost friend, Melissa. I am a member of the same on-line community (userfriendly.org) as Melissa and Mr. ******. In the months since Melissa's passing, our little community of friends took up a collection in memory of Melissa, with the intent that the funds be sent to AFI to be used to help further your work in film restoration. I elected to handle the sending of the funds due in part to the fact that I live in the United States, making it easier for me to mail you our contribution.
Melissa, or lessa as we knew her on-line, loved film and was always willing to share that with us in the daily message boards at userfriendly.org. We were saddened to hear of her death. No more will she bring her love and knowledge of film to our daily forum. Please accept the enclosed check, in the amount of $300.00, as a contribution from the UserFriendly community in memory of our departed friend Melissa.
Any correspondence sent to me at the above address will be shared with the rest of the community, or you may join our community (it doesn’t cost anything to sign up) and post a comment as a response there (go to userfriendly.org and follow the links).
