I had a chat with one of the managers of the apartment complex and asked (very calmly) why the laundry room was locked sometime between 10:15pm and 11:20pm last night. She's a sweet gal, and I didn't want to come out screaming (despite having been uberticked earlier today) so I was as calm and polite as possible. She said that they (the rentacops--erm, 'courtesy patrol') are supposed to lock it every night at 10pm and that the maintenance crew opens it at 8 in the morning. I asked since when (never having seen it locked before) and she said it's always been like that. A rather dumbfounded "oh" came out of my mouth. I pointed to my t-shirt and shorts and said that was what I had to wear into work and that I had to borrow a uniform from someone else because as far as I knew, it was open 24/7. She was apologetic and said no, and that they'd had problems with one of the guys and recently replaced him, and that the new ones were doing the job that the previous one hadn't been doing. I mentioned offhand that I had never read this policy but would make an effort to keep it in mind in the future (like I'm going to forget it after this morning...).
So I don't know what to do now. I'm mostly relaxed, but partially ticked off that I didn't get to raise bloody heck with them and I know my wife is going to be swearing up and down at me when she gets home because she thinks it's male bovine fecal matter (and she'll be ticked that I wasn't more forceful in my non-raising of heck).
ah well. At least someone was nice enough to fold the laundry after taking it out of the drier and befor setting it on the counter (yeah, wife didn't get it even after it was open this morning).
wheefun. /me very very seriously ponders going to get a 6 pack of beer, consuming most of it in a short time period, and blowing the living snot out of people with a large shoulder mounted weapon. on the UF ET server, of course ;) |
