Wireless router and linux with dhcp question by celticess2004-12-06 12:12:37
why can't he plug in his router into by shminux2004-12-06 12:21:14
Well he's claiming my hub bottlenecks by celticess 2004-12-06 12:57:00
My hub is a 4 port 10/100. I could put my switch downstairs as a switch is probably faster than a hub. But he sticks it and the cable modem in this little cupboard raised up. I'm on a fixed income and I don't relish the thought of my smc 8 port 10/100 switch possibly falling down 6 ft onto his electrical goo also it's 2x the size of the hub so will be even harder to fit into that tiny shelf in the closet(it's only about 4-6in deep).

He really doesn't know anything about networking anymore. He called his friend the other day about it who owns his own computer company and teaches at CDI. I told my roommate he could of just asked me and I'd of done it for him it's not exactly that hard on win2k... though he's using netbleui :P

Why I was trying to get him to put a card in his desktop and connect the laptop that way is security. If he wants the risk fine but I don't want warchalkers sniffing my system... I know he may not understand the router instructions which means I may end up doing it or his soon to be brother in law or he just will stubbornly do what he thinks should be done and it might not work right. *sigh*
