Wireless router and linux with dhcp question by celticess2004-12-06 12:12:37

This is what he's getting I think. My system simply does dhcpd but I had installed a dyndns updater as I had one of those too. *sigh* That I guess is somewhat pointless now. :/ I'm not sure how the heck I could get it to point at my machine with a router in the way. My resolv.conf has 2 nameservers and one other thing. I forget what the other is(I'm on windows at the moment).

For dhcpd I have that installed and simply have net.eth0 starting at boot and it simply points to dhcp without any of that internal goo that you can also do in that file. My host file has the localhost line then a line with my ip localhost and machine alias.

Disturbing thing is my roommate used to be a tech but right now he's rather clueless as to what to do with this thing I think. All he knows is he wants one because his laptop has a wireless card.(I told him get a wireless card for his desktop and connect them that way but he wants it this way)

I'm actually so unsure of how the wireless ones work I'm wondering if I can even plug my hub into the box. I don't know if it expects everything to be wireless meaning no other ports in the thing except for the uplink to the cable modem.(/me goes and looks at stats at that link I gave)
