As for quasi-military hardware. 1. If it's tested and proven on the battlefield it is likely a good choice for defense. Example the 1911 Semi-Automatic Pistol used by the United States Military has been with us for nearly 100 years, more than 100 if you count the early designs. To this day it is still the standard by which all other defensive hand guns are measured. Even more telling; the 1911 still soldiers on with elite military and civilian units. The Remington 870 Shotgun Holds a Similar Iconic position in the world of defensive firearms as well as the AR-15. 2. These are the types of weapons the Second Ammendment was written specifically for, not Granpa Jed's 30-30 huntin' rifle.
