Sometimes, when the platters on a hard drive get hot, the read/write heads will get stuck to them when it cools and shrinks a bit. Use to be more of a problem before than now, but I guess it is still a possible problem (if this is what happened). It is possible that one of your read/write heads is damaged. If you can, do a backup right away on that drive. If it is one of the drives in a RAID, look at replacing it as soon as possible.
