I have had problems with sexual harassment, stalking, amoungst other things the cops don't do much. So if you think you can get busted for a glance your wrong. If a boss finds out you've been oogling someone they can call you in... they can even eventually dicipline you but thats about it. I was sexually bothered on 2 jobsites... and no I didn't bother filing charges but I did say something to bosses and the people were warned. Also in the non workplace sense I had to deal with racial discrimination and harassment from a large corporation. 2 people were warned and threatened with losing their licenses over that fiasco.
It isn't legal to drive drunk here and they can also bust you on driving with other imparing substances be they perscription or otherwise. I know as my ex got pulled over once on medicine for his back and I also know someone in a round about way jailed for repeated DUI's and a fatal hit and run.
/me lives in BC Canada and I have also been to family court oh probably a dozen times... As plantif against my ex and one as defendant. Then I've been to criminal/civil court several times when younger as my uncle was a provincial court judge. My roommates dad was an auxillery cop(and that dudes sister is a justice of the peace), and I grew up with one guy that works in the cybercrimes division(his dad was a cop too), and I know someone in CESUS.
Canada is not a police state... And if anything it's hard to get certain laws enforced.(like juristdictional clauses, no contact orders, etc) Also some aspects of the jail and parole system bytes. |
