I know a lot of people IRL that develop new personae online that they don't exhibit IRL. If all you've ever done is gaming and chat rooms, then your response to an interaction with another entity in your computer may be predicated on those other interactions.

Some of us, however, are basically the same person online as we are IRL. If I were to adopt another nickname, I would still be the same person.

Honestly, I don't know how people can keep up façades like that for protracted periods.
