You know your computer puts out too much heat... by MikeCDN2004-10-22 23:24:06

My friend has an Athlon 1800XP - we reckon that we should stick a frying pan on the heatsink and cook eggs on it. My P4/2400 hits about 45 degrees C whilst playing most games. His is like that when its idle. However, whilst running my computer, burning a DVD and having my ancient IBM 14" monitor on (it gives out ENORMOUS amounts of heat - there are singe marks on the top), my room gets pretty hot.

I've recently picked up an iWhack 233 from the trash. It is unbelievable - the heatsink is only about 1cm high, and the only fan is the main case fan. Considering that my old Pentium 266 had an enormous heatsink and its own fan, you can really see the advantages of real RISC architectures.
