If so, try wiping your l;ocal DNS cache. If you are running XP Pro, run ipconfig /flushdns to clear it out. I have had similar problems in the past using MS outlook (not express). I find it usually happens after leaving the client run for a few hours (or days) it will stop connecting. Sometimes shutting down the e-mail client and restarting it helps also. I have not yet been able to find out exactly what is happening, though. I am close to rebuilding this machine anyway - problems with other network-related things.
