usually invites other people to occupy your safety margin. :< And in many cases, that occupier will then slow down. Ah well.
And regarding the TLP: 120mph? Seriously? My wife thinks I'm dangerous because I drive 80-85! She's had nightmares that I got killed in a car wreck!
But I definitely do agree that if you're not passing someone, you should NOT be in the passing lane. I can't count the number of times I've screamed at the car in front of me, "Get out of the passing lane!!!" Of course, I know they can't hear me, but at least they should respond to my flashing headlights*.
And if you're in vehicle B, trying to pass vehicle A, where speed(A)=70 and speed(B)=71, I'd suggest that you need to pass more quickly, or wait until vehicle C, where speed(C)=75, has passed.
* I generally refrain from this except for the most egregious offenders. If everyone had CB radios I'd be inclined to hop on that person's channel and politely explain to them the meaning of those "Slow Traffic Keep Right" signs, but alas, this is not possible.
I also think that, if I have enough room to pass on the right, the person I'm passing has room to get out of the passing lane and let me pass on the left instead--much safer that way. Unfortunately, many people don't seem to realize that, or don't care, or don't pay attention to what's going on around them, or--whatever the cause, the end result is the same. :<
