swerving or breaking for fuzzy wuzzies is discouraged as you can cause accidents that way. Happens here in maine a lot. Deer, cats, dogs, squirels, chipmunks, all kinds of animals scamper into the road. Some person thinks it's best to slow down when the animal runs into the road, and then the eight or nine cars behind them pile up because of their kindness. This doesn't happen all the time, though, and if no one else is behind you or coming the other way, I would say go for it, spare the little guy. But if I'm in traffic, and I see a cat in the road, I'm going to flatten it before I endanger those around me or myself by trying to slow down or swerve.
Now then, if I saw a moose or some other form of large animal in the road, I'd out of the way somehow, probably by going into the ditch. It's easier to replace a car than it is to replace a person. |
