is that if I tap my brakes just enough to drop my speed about 5kph, and the guy behind me is SO close that he runs into me, then he's clearly the offender. Note that I didn't intentionally try to have him crash into me -- all I wanted was to warn him off in case I had to actually slam on my breaks. If a deer jumped out in front of me, or if I was in somebody's blind spot and they changed lanes, I'd have to slam on my brakes, and he'd crash into me HARD -- he might still be at fault, but I'd be dead.

I have ZERO tolerance for tailgaters. Defend them all you wish, but the number one cause of accidents is following too close.
