He says that lots of places down south are VERY friendly to ambulances.
Besides, in most places, even if the ambulance IS technically breaking the law (which they do), the police aren't dumb enough to pull them over. More likely, they'll form up and give them an escort (I've seen it happen).
Advice from a cop to one of my best friends after his first (and so far, last) speeding ticket (53 over the limit, OUCH):
If you want to drive fast in traffic, become an ambulance driver. That way you'll get to do what you like AND you'll be helping people. Don't do it on your own, or we'll put you in jail.
