She was in the left lane passing a slower vehicle (if you're travelling almost twice the posted limit, its quite difficult to tell the relative speeds of vehicles). Just as our hero comes up behind her, an armadillo waddles off the median and towards her lane -- her automatic reaction? Slow down a bit. Nobody can prove that this wasn't the case. In that case, its not even a poor driving decision, its just what you do when something comes onto the highway in front of you.

You can't fault her for using her brakes, but you can certainly fault him for driving like an idiot.
