But there's a limit to how fast people should speed (work with me here). If someone is going so much faster than normal, a safe "mirror checking" interval wouldn't necessarily catch them. If he were going 5-10 mph faster than she, I'd agree with him - unless she had a compelling reason (like seeing the cop). You should always get out of the way or speed up if you are in the fast lane and someone wants to pass. If it's safe to do so.
