Please take my TV away from me. (n/t) by purplepineapple2004-10-21 07:35:08
Just unplug it -- put it away -- leave it there... by inittab 2004-10-22 04:40:01
Mine got unplugged in August of 1996 !!

I get LOTS of other things done now... TV takes way too much
time that could be used for other things. Of course, now I have
to make sure that I don't spend too much time on the computer--

It took a few weeks to break the habbit of just sitting down to
watch whatever happened to be on the TV... but after a while,
I realized that the problem was: I didn't take time to realize
all of the OTHER things I could be doing, that were available.
Sitting around the TV is simple, but there's more fun+creativity
in inventing, dancing, friends, computers, writing, travel, etc.

In fact, within three weeks, I realizes it was not the TV that I
missed so much... but the fact that so much of people's social
conversations were centered around TV shows. It took ME a bit
to notice that now I had NEW things to chat about, that include
things I had been doing MYSELF, and not just watching on the tube.

Yea- there were a few programs I enjoyed, and new things have
come on the TV that I like, when I see them at friends houses.
BUT-- I still figure that I get more LIFE accomplished, since
I'm not sitting in front of the television for 20 hours per week.
