I'd tell him to bugger off and block his handle. AIM has an option to require you to authorize anyone being added to your contact list, doesn't it? ICQ has, and they stole most of ICQ's ideas for AIM when they bought out Mirabilis...? Also: if anyone you know IRL starts acting huffy or comments on it to you after you do it, I'd say that's a good sign that they may be involved...
