Gawd I hate Cisco switches by Kickstart 2004-10-21 15:13:49
So I'm implementing and IDS and need to make the port on the switch that the IDS system is connected to a SPAN, or port monitoring port. Fine...go in and enable the connection and configure the port to monitor VLAN1, and save the running config and exit. Suddenly, a completely unrelated system on a sub-switch is unreachable, yet everything else is fine. What do I do to solve it? Go set the interface to monitor VLAN1 again. In other words, the exact same thing that caused the problem. No rhyme nor reason, but it works.

Cisco networking is an arcane art created by evil wizards in their mystical powers on the planet Insanio, and the Cisco engineer certifications are just initiations into those black arts by driving the knowledge seeker insane.
