A pox on VH1 by SnappingTurtle 2006-11-19 12:55:59
VH1 is the most addictive TV channel of all time. Among other things, they run these "The Greatest" shows and I get all worked up over their lists.

So, they did a list of "The Greatest 25 Protest Songs". Mostly I agreed with the list. However, at around number ten they had "Born in the USA". Now, they fully admitted that few people ever realized that "Born in the USA" was a protest song. Most people (including me) just thought it was a patriotic, jingoistic rah-rah kinda song.

But it seems to me that if nobody realized it was a protest song... then it's not much of a protest song.

Discuss.
