I think we *may be* dealing more with an attempt to get at an all-too-common hidden assumption, on the part
of the postulated beneficiary. If you will, the postulate may taken to be that the beneficiary is postulating the
absolutes[1], and thus suffering from the ill effects of an internalized fallacy.
In particular, the "trap" is not in the nature of the actual motives, or even that of the perceived motives, but
rather in the value one assigns to those motives. While this did not seem to be clear in the initial posts, Yaeger
does *seem* to agree *somewhat* with my analysis, *on that particular point*.
