It just doesn't have as much effect, as on some people. I must confess, the tolerance I have is partly a
function of chronic depletion of the relevant pain receptors--a condition all too common among chileheads.
One of capsaicin's functions, in wild chile plants (which rely on passing through a birds digestive tract
for propagation, complete with a fertile growth matrix), is to make sure *only* the birds consume them. The
wild plants have tiny, erect (not pendant) fruit, for the same reason.
