1) Theist: one who believes in the existence of God.
2) Theist: one who asserts the existence of God.
3) Theist: one who denies the non-existence of God.
4) Theist: one who does not believe in the non-existence of God.

All of those have subtly different nuances. I'd say
#1 is the most neutral
#2 could be seen as _very_ subtly biased
#3 is more obviously biased (in the other direction) and could mistakenly include agnostics
#4 like #3, but at once less obviously biased and more difficult to parse

The thing that _almost_ makes #2 biased is the word "assert". It takes a little extra effort to get it there, though. This is probably just my opinion, though.
