One family, three nations -- pleading telegrams between the cousins were not enough to halt the procession towards the war. Kaiser Wilhelm was not at war with this grandmother, nor his dear cousin in Russia -- rather, the Germans were at war with the Russians and the English (and of course, the French).
War may be started by individuals, but once begun, it is a battle of nations. |
