do they wave the 4 yrs second language req's for by celticess 2004-09-24 10:38:36
non canadians? If so she wont get in. If you are born into a second language and can read and write it your exempt from having to take it but you have to prove to a review board you are proficient in the second language. Otherwise you need a second language of some sort and to be proficient at reading/writing/speaking it and must be able to demonstrate that too them or provide grade transcripts showing it. One of my ex bf's back in highschool was in UBC but he was also taking french via correspondence it was a condition of him getting entry into UBC back in the 80's. As we are a bilingual nation the rule used to be so I was told that you must have a second language here for entry into uni... they didn't care necisarily any more if it was bilingualness in the official 2 languages or one of those languages plus one other.(Hmm wonder if a person could argue bilingual in sign language *g*) Originally apprently they were picky that it be french(if your native english speaking canadian) ... later they didn't care as long as it was one of the official languages + one other.
