I couldn't possibly agree more. I hate hate HATE that the invasion of Iraq happened in the first place. But happened it did, and now it has to be finished, lest that sacrifice and death be for naught.
I've always thought of it as an over-zealous surgeon diving into an unecessary and dangerous operation. He shouldn't have begun, but now that he has, the patient can't be left bleeding to death on the table. In that sense, we ALL have a responsibilty (my country, Canada included) to lend a hand in patching those holes back up as best we can. The *least* the US can do as penance for the original attack is leave the Iraqi's with something unique, progressive and proud. |
