I'm not an advocate of withholding care from those whose conditions are "sef-inflicted" and "avoidable", a label which would include many cases of cancer, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, STDs, etcetera. I'm also not an advocate of withholding critical care from sick people just because they can't afford it.
Your statement that "he couldn't be bothered" is contradicted by the article, in which he is said to be receiving Medicare. He was receiving medical attention and had sought medical help in losing weight, but it wasn't covered. |
