It is almost certainly his parents fault for malnourishing him then. It is his (and his relatives) fault for continuing that diet WITHOUT seeking medical help.

If he could not be bothered to get help until he weighed over half a ton and could no longer walk, then he doesn't deserve any specially-funded medical intervention.

It's taking nine medical professionals to keep him alive - that's nine people who could (and should) be caring for those who haven't inflicted a completely avoidable condition upon themselves.

And 250lb in middle school?
My sister is obese, and she weighs roughly that amount. She has gone for help already, and although she isn't losing weight very quickly, she has begun.
