Atheism is founded in the scientific principle, which acknowledges that it's impossible to ever know everything. But as there is, at the moment, a total absence of any data whatsoever that might point towards the existance of a deity, it seems prudent and sensible to formulate the current working hypothesis as
'There is no god.'
However, as every scientist will tell you, and unlike what most religous nuts would have you think, no hypothesis can ever be proven, and all it takes to shatter this one is some kind of reliable measurement that points towards the existance of a god.
