absolutely. Although it may not have done much for his malnourishment - malnourishment can take many forms. And obesity that extreme should always be accompanied by medical attention - I'm surprised his wife (or his parents, before he left home) didn't insist sooner that he see a doctor. How long has he been unable to walk? The article didn't say; but surely he was still able to walk before things got quite this severe. People who cared for him should have done something before things got to this pass.
