but there have been others weighing that much and more in the past (and many who did not exacerbate their condition by overeating). And genetic predisposition to obesity is a well-known condition, and quite severe in many people (although admittedly not quite as severe as in this case).

If a person is suffering from an unusually severe case of a well-known but minor medical disorder, is it idiotic or selfish to feel that more medical and financial resources should be available to combat it?
