| Well it ended so badly... |

It all started when I was a data analyst for the Army. I decided it would be funny to switch the 123 and 789 buttons on my co-workers 10-key.
Now this fellow happened to be the Retirement NCO (the guy you talked to when you were about to retire) and had been working with computers for quite some time. It was also a given that everyone in the department could 10-key by touch, quite proficiently for that matter.
The next day he calls me into his office and low and behold there is a Colonel (Full Bird i.e. very high ranking) sitting in the office patiently waiting. My co-worker told me to watch his screen as the strangest thing was happening: when he pushed 1 a 7 appeared, and so on and so forth.
What was I to do! It was extraordinarily funny but Colonel's getting ready to retire don't have much of a sense of humor and can make very rash decisions on their way out the door, especially when it comes to smart-alec peon data analysts. I quietly told my coworker to please 10-key by touch and I would get back with him later about the “problem”. He went ahead and used the numbers atop the keyboard to finish up and I and my other coworkers had a pretty good laugh later. *sigh*
Now I told you that story to tell you this one.
I am for the most part not known for learning my lesson from previous mistakes, so soon after the "10-key" incident I thought it would be funny to change the buttons on the phone in a similar manner.
ha-ha.
Turns out my mother-in-law was over that day and had to make an emergency phone call and kept getting someone she was most defiantly not trying to reach.
Later when I tried to explain that only one of the several phones available for use was tampered with, and several other pathetic excuses, I found myself once again in hot water. The moral of this story is whatever the Colonel can do to you is not nearly as devastating or long lasting as what the mother-in-law can do. *double sigh*
