UFie Idol 3: To be, or not to be? by lord_dolphin 2004-09-24 00:26:28
So far people's responses have been very positive about keeping UFie Idol around for at least a third competition. But I want to give everyone a chance to "cast their vote" so to speak.

If UFie Idol 3 happens, it will be under new management, meaning that I will *not* be running the show anymore. I just don't have the time to do it as well as I did the first time, and I *REALLY* don't want to see it done like the half-donkey'd job I ended up doing the second time around! Also, it looks like if the current potential new manager takes over, the whole thing might happen next summer, which is quite a while from now! So are people ok with that? are they willing to wait? but more so, are they willing to participate?

One of the big problems before was the added security for listening and posting music. This was because we needed to keep UFie Idol as a "private party" for legal reasons. In all honesty, we can't be 100% sure that some random authorities of SOME random country might not try to shut us down anyways! But since we couldn't figure out what country had jurisdiction, and what (if any) licensing issues need to be considered, we just tried to do the best we could to make sure that it didn't seem like some pirate song swapping party.

So think it over fellow UFies... because in the end, this is all of our competition, not just the people running it, or the people submitting entries. So everyone gets a voice on this!
