| As much as I love NYC, I've occasionally toyed with the idea in recent years (not without some reason) of looking at some other cities where I might feel at home. Like you, I'm pretty much a confirmed urbanite -- I enjoy having everything practically right there at my fingertips. As much as I sometimes enjoy visiting the country, my mind can't even grasp the concept of living there even though I realize that plenty of other people feel the same way about where I live. I'm not easy to satisfy, however -- Chicago's too cold, Los Angeles is too warm (I like to see the seasons change at least a little bit), Boston's too expensive, etc.. I've thought about Seattle...but one of the problems is that I also have mild SAD in the winter (starting to experience the beginnings of it e'en now) and I can only assume it might get worse the further north I went (perhaps I should consider Rio instead?) About what time does the sun set in the winter up there? For some reason, it seems to set earlier here than it does where my parents live out in the Midwest -- in the dead of winter, it's usually pitch black by 5PM here although usually not until 6PM where my parents are. |
