having the $10,000 suite problem, but not most of Canada or even many places in North America. This is because cities here are designed for the car. People don't walk here, least of all those wearing $10,000 suits. This is, of course, gross generalizations of these cities but I think they would generally hold to be true, with only a few exceptions in exceptional circumstances.
I actually didn't find Paris very imposing. It's buildings, at least in the core, were rarely too tall. I know this does not hold in the outer areas as the buildings there are much newer and taller, and the areas are built for cars. Of course, as a lowly tourist, I never saw much of these areas.
