And yes, it is stifling of free speech, for which we are sorry. On the other hand, the laws came about because people would go to the polls and have a big thug standing there in a "Vote for MY Candidate" shirt or buttons or what-have-you, basically intimidating voters into a somewhat less democratic process.

Besides, the distance, at least in my precinct, is 100 feet, which is about to the end of the parking lot. Everything past that is fair game.
