you have removed all unneccessary files - like tmps, anything she can do without? things she doesnt access often removed to a CD or floppies? zip stuff she uses infrequently and only unzip when used? Image file collections are a good example, or music files.
I have been told that most defrag wont work unless you have about 20% free space - in my case, with Win98, I have found this is not entirely true, as it still seems to work with only about 10% free.
Having spent much of my early computerised-working-life on computers that were far too small for what they were being used for, this kind of housekeeping is second nature now, even when it isnt necessary with the larger faster monsters we have now. Getting in the habit of being economical with file sizes is a good thing. |
