From what she's telling me, I gather that she means it's slow while she surfs the internet (which I may be able to do something about) and also when she tries to shift between one program and another. Some time ago, I installed a spare system utility suite which I had around on her computer as well as both preventative and curative anti-spyware programs (Spyware Guard and Spybot, respectively). I doubt it's a problem with a virus or spyware, although I'll run those tonight before I leave. One thing I did notice when I C-A-D'd is that there do seem to be more programs running in the background than perhaps there should be. I can take a closer look at that as well. I'm not entirely sure she knows where the reinstallation disks for her operating system are -- so we may be SOL there.
