That's the usual culprit for 'too slow'. Anything over a couple of hundred megabytes should be enough hard drive space that it won't cause noticeable slowdown, unless she's being doing something that would particularly fragment it? On the other hand, chances are you may be able to prune some extra space in order to run a good defragmentation anyway. Reinstalling is a last resort, but at least it's reliable (as long as your CDs are still good)! (:
