It isn't silly, though--it is in fact partially demonstrable (to be wholly demonstrable would require the ability to
observe mutually-exclusive outcomes).
In the Copenhagen interpretation, the wave function collapses to a single solution, dependent on observation.
In the Everett interpretation, the wave function collapses to an solution set, comprising multiple, simultaneously-
existing universes--one for each possible outcome. These universes can also merge: when their state becomes
identical, they become not only effectively, but in fact one and the same.
Strange as it may sound, the Everett interpretation is actually the simpler of the two!
