For now academic upgrading by celticess 2006-11-19 12:55:59
I never took chem 11 & physics 11. Actually I did but only for about 2 months then dropped out as my course load was too heavy.(no free periods, etc at the time) Anyways I'll be taking those first then I need to upgrade scores on my english 12 and biology 12. I also need Math 12(I did well in algebra 11 however) and I also need physics 12.

After that I take this fulltime course. Which see's 98% of students hired within first 2 months. Each year 150 leave the field due to retirement or shifting to a higher position. However the school I'm going to is the only one in BC that does this course and though it's a 2.5 yr full time course it only releases on average 40 students a year into the field. So there is extreamly high demand and shortage of workers in this feild... it's a workers market. :) Current wages in this field are $30 to start with full benifits and specialized pension plan. Which works out to a $62,000 Gross income per year(around $48,000 net)... that is 1.5x the wage rate listed for the same career in the 2002-2003 time period. So wages are bound to rise as well by the time I graduate. Either way working part time I'm likely to earn 2-3x as much as I do on disability pension.

Btw to others wanting into canada this would be a good way to get in if your qualified in this field. They do have a special one year course to meet canada's requirements for those trained in other nations... and the field desperately needs people.

Btw while they do give some part time courses normally in the program I'm in and up to 2 yrs full time. They normally cap them at much less than what I'm getting. I kinda feel proud that I scored so well and ranked so high I'm getting almost double the funding the average person gets for vocational training when on disability.
